As a lecturer at Minhaj University Lahore, he teaches key courses such as Islamic Business and Regulatory Environment and Product Structuring for Islamic Financial Institutions. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he supervises graduate-level research focusing on the comparison of AAOIFI Shariah standards with amendments made by the State Bank of Pakistan, highlighting similarities, contradictions, and their implications for the industry. In addition to his academic contributions, Mufti Umar Farooq serves as the convenor of the Seekers Islamic Society, where he organizes cultural and educational events, including the university’s annual Milad Festival. Currently, Mufti Umar Farooq is working on establishing an institution that integrates religious, modern, and scientific education with social welfare initiatives. He is also producing a documentary series on the historical interplay between divine law and intellect in Muslim societies, exploring how these principles can guide solutions to today’s economic and social challenges.
