Introduction

AutoCAD is an essential tool for engineers across various disciplines. This short-term course is designed to equip beginners with the foundational skills required for creating 2D technical drawings and an introduction to 3D modeling. Over six weeks, students will progressively learn to produce professional-quality drawings and explore the basics of 3D design. 

Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to: 
  • Navigate the AutoCAD interface with confidence 
  • Create and edit basic 2D geometry (lines, circles, arcs, polygons) 
  • Modify drawings using commands like Trim, Extend, Offset, Mirror, etc. 
  • Work with layers, blocks, hatching, and annotations 
  • Create simple room layouts and technical diagrams 
  • Understand the basics of 3D modeling, including shapes like cubes and spheres 
  • Apply materials and perform basic rendering of 3D models
