Introduction

BS in Zoology and Entomology combines the study of animal biology, including insects and other arthropods. Zoology focuses on the study of animals and their behavior, anatomy, physiology, ecology, and evolution, while Entomology specifically explores into the study of insects, their classification, biology, and their role in ecosystem. Students enrolled in this program will engage both in theoretical and practical knowledge of animal biology including insects and other arthropods. This degree also emphasizes Biodiversity conservation, Agriculture and pest management, and Public health. 

Objectives

  • Enhance students' ability to critically analyze biological data, conduct experiments, and interpret research findings within the context of zoology and entomology.
  • Develop a strong foundation in the biology of insects, focusing on their anatomy, physiology, behavior, ecology, and their importance in various ecosystems, including their roles as pollinators, pests, and vectors of disease.
  • Provide hands-on experience in laboratory and fieldwork, allowing students to learn techniques for specimen collection, identification, preservation, and ecological analysis.
  • Prepare students for further academic pursuits, such as master’s and doctoral degrees in zoology, entomology, or related fields, and to provide the necessary foundation for careers in research, education, wildlife management, and applied biological sciences.
